BHOPAL/Spiritual leader Devkinandan Thakur and MP Yoga Commission chairperson Dr Raghvendra Sharma on Sunday honoured Yoga players from Madhya Pradesh who brought laurels to the state and the country through their performances at international competitions at a ceremony held in Bhopal as part of the “World Yogasana Championship Winners’ Award Ceremony and Yoga Chetna Mahotsav”.

Addressing the gathering, Thakur emphasised the spiritual and transformative dimensions of yoga. Participants described his presence as a source of spiritual energy and positivity.

The event, organised jointly by the Madhya Pradesh Yoga Commission and the All India Yoga Teachers Federation (AIYTF), drew yoga practitioners, coaches and wellness enthusiasts from across the country ahead of the 12th International Yoga Day on June 21.

Addressing the gathering, other speakers said the achievements of the state’s yoga athletes had enhanced the prestige of both Madhya Pradesh and India on the global stage. The award ceremony recognised medal winners and outstanding performers in international yogasana competitions.

The event was attended by former Yoga commission chairman Ved Prakash Sharma, filmmaker and casting director Rahul Gaur, RSS leader Rajendra Dixit, BJP media panellist Animesh Bhargava and AIYTF president Mangesh Dixit.

The event also featured the Yoga Chetna Mahotsav, a national-level gathering held at the auditorium of Pt. Khushilal Sharma Government Ayurvedic College. Organisers said the programme aimed to promote yoga as a holistic way of life and encourage wider participation in yoga activities across the country.

Speakers highlighted that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a priceless legacy of Indian civilisation that harmonises the body, mind and soul, helping individuals lead healthier and more balanced lives.

The event reinforced the “Ghar-Ghar Yoga” campaign and echoed the International Yoga Day 2026 theme, “One Earth, One Health”, while promoting the Indian ethos of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”.
