NEW DELHI: The results of the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for 84 subjects have been declared, with more than 4,000 candidates qualifying for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the National Testing Agency (NTA) said on Friday.
Of the 6.07 lakh candidates who appeared for the examination, more than 97,000 have qualified for PhD admissions and over 4,000 for JRF, according to a senior NTA official.
The NTA had ordered fresh examinations for candidates who appeared for the English, Commerce and Sociology papers after an expert committee detected factual, typographical, translation and language-related errors in the question papers.
The agency released the UGC-NET answer key on August 16, nearly two months after the examination, and issued a special notice regarding the three affected subjects. It subsequently announced fresh examinations for the papers in September.
The re-examinations for English, Commerce and Sociology are scheduled for September 9 and 10. Candidates appearing for the fresh tests will not have to pay any additional examination fee.
The UGC-NET is conducted by the NTA to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for appointment as assistant professors and award of the JRF in universities and colleges across the country.
