BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Poorv Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company (MPEZ) has regularised 160 contractual employees appointed on compassionate grounds as part of the state government’s efforts to provide job security to dependants of deceased power sector employees, state Energy Minister Pradhuman Singh Tomar said on Thursday.
He said the move was an important step towards employee welfare and social security. He congratulated the employees and expressed hope that they would discharge their responsibilities with dedication and contribute to maintaining Madhya Pradesh’s position in the country’s energy sector.
The latest regularisation follows a similar decision by Madhya Pradesh Transmission Company, which recently regularised 43 employees appointed on compassionate contractual terms.
According to the company’s Chief General Manager (Human Resources and Administration), the dependants of deceased employees had initially been appointed to contractual posts under the Madhya Pradesh East Zone Electricity Distribution Company’s Compassionate Appointment Policy, 2018, and its amended 2023 provisions.
Eligible employees have now been appointed to equivalent regular posts under the company’s 2026 scheme for fresh appointments to regular positions for personnel engaged on compassionate contractual terms.
Of the 160 employees regularised, 159 have been appointed as Office Assistant Grade-III trainees, while one has been appointed as a Line Attendant trainee.
The company has issued appointment orders to all the employees following completion of the process.
Among those regularised, 52 belong to the unreserved category, 78 to the Other Backward Classes, 19 to the Scheduled Castes and 11 to the Scheduled Tribes.
The government said the initiative would provide greater stability to families of deceased employees and strengthen employee welfare measures within the state’s power distribution sector.
