BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday directed officials to accelerate work to improve infrastructure, maintenance and essential facilities in government schools across the state, with priority to completing new construction projects.
Chairing a review meeting on strengthening infrastructure, maintenance and operational systems in government schools, at Samatva Bhawan at his official residence, Yadav appreciated technology-based initiatives in school management and called for their wider adoption. He said districts should proactively use information technology to simplify administrative processes.
The Chief Minister said tools such as SIPRI software could be used to gather information on drinking water sources and water levels, helping authorities speed up related works.
Officials informed the meeting that the mandatory e-Attendance system had improved attendance to 95 per cent and helped ensure that teachers adhered to prescribed minimum teaching hours. The AI-enabled online system for teachers through the ‘Hamare Shikshak’ app is also being studied by other states.
Under the Integrated Scholarship Scheme, nearly 1.25 crore students have benefited over the past two years, with Rs 696 crore transferred directly into their bank accounts through the Education Portal.
Yadav directed districts to prepare detailed, school-wise infrastructure plans and utilise available funds across departments for repairs and maintenance. Local bodies should ensure cleanliness, drinking water and functional toilets, while CSR funds, District Mineral Foundation resources, MP and MLA funds and public participation can be mobilised for additional facilities.
He assigned District Collectors responsibility for coordinating and supervising the work.
Yadav also called for alumni meets to encourage former students to contribute to the development of their schools.
The meeting was informed that two Madhya Pradesh schools had received national awards under the Swachh and Green School Programme. Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal, Additional Chief Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office Neeraj Mandloi and senior officials attended the meeting.
