BHOPAL: A book chronicling the life, courage and distinguished police career of late IPS officer Vijay Raman was released at a function organised by the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Bhopal, at the Dushyant Kumar Memorial Manuscript Museum here on Saturday.
Titled Khaki Vardi Ka Yoddha (The Warrior in Khaki), the book has been published by Prabhat Prakashan and documents Raman’s professional journey, experiences and contributions to the police service.
Director General of Police Kailash Makwana, who attended the event as the chief guest, recalled Raman’s leadership, courage, intelligence and commitment to duty. He said the late officer’s contribution to the police service would always be remembered.
Makwana highlighted Raman’s role in operations against dreaded dacoit Pan Singh Tomar and his gang in the Chambal region. He also recalled that Raman had led an operation against terrorist Ghazi Baba.
The event was attended by Raman’s wife, Veena Raman, and senior journalist and political analyst Girija Shankar as special guests. PRSI Bhopal president Manoj Dwivedi welcomed the guests, while Raman’s daughter-in-law, Divya Raman, conducted the proceedings.
Former Director General of Police S.K. Raut and Ayurvedic physician Dr Rashmi Jha also addressed the gathering. The book was formally released by the dignitaries on the occasion.
Speakers remembered Raman for placing law and duty above all else, even in challenging circumstances. They said his courage, decision-making abilities and dedication remained an inspiration for police officers and the younger generation.
Published after Raman’s death in 2023, Khaki Vardi Ka Yoddha seeks to preserve his life story, professional struggles, experiences and contributions to policing. The book also aims to introduce future generations to his inspiring journey and approach to police service.
