NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday shared a warm moment with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the 18th BRICS Summit here, posting a picture of the three leaders holding hands at Bharat Mandapam.
The photograph, shared by Modi on his Instagram account, showed him standing between Putin and Xi with the three leaders holding hands. The post featured the song ‘Kingdom BGM’ as its background music.
The informal gesture stood out against the otherwise formal setting and protocol surrounding the high-level diplomatic gathering.
Modi also shared several other photographs from the summit. One showed him walking with Putin, Xi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa inside the venue.
In another photograph, Modi was seen in an animated conversation with Putin, Xi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
A separate picture showed Modi and Putin walking together and smiling, accompanied by security personnel and translators.
India is hosting the BRICS Summit from September 12 to 13. Leaders of 11 member countries and 10 partner countries, along with representatives of international organisations, are attending the summit.
