BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has urged farmers across the state to obtain their Farmer IDs, saying the digital initiative will help transform agricultural governance and ensure timely delivery of services.
Yadav said the digital revolution being pursued under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought significant changes in governance and service delivery through digital identity, secure payments and transactions. A campaign to create Farmer IDs has now been launched in Madhya Pradesh, with government teams visiting farmers to facilitate registration.
He said digitalisation has created a more efficient ecosystem across sectors such as finance, healthcare and education, and similar transformation is being pursued in agriculture through the Digital Agriculture Mission.
The mission includes the creation of digital public infrastructure, implementation of the Digital Crop Estimation Survey and wider adoption of digital initiatives by Central and state governments, as well as academic and research institutions associated with agriculture.
Yadav said, on his initiative, farmer-centric digital public infrastructure is being expanded to villages and individual farmers. The Kisan ID, similar to Aadhaar, will serve as a reliable digital identity and enable farmers to access agriculture-related information and government services in a timely and personalised manner.
The Farmer ID will be linked with comprehensive details, including land records, livestock ownership, crops sown and benefits received by farmers. The system is expected to help consolidate agricultural information and improve the delivery of government schemes.
Pilot projects for Kisan IDs and the Digital Crop Survey have already been conducted in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab and Tamil Nadu.
