Three Indian photographers’ pictures chosen for Andre Stenin International Press Photo Contest Exhibition
Exhibition tour travels across many cities in the world, and will be exhibited till February 23
NEW DELHI / Works of three Indian photographers—Shibashish Saha, Chandan Khanna, and Rajendra Mohan Pandey have been selected for the prestigious Andre Stenin International Press Photo Contest Exhibition. These photographs have been shortlisted from as many as 3000 entries coming from 54 nations.
Shibashish Saha, an Indian photographer has won many world-level competitions. His photograph titled ‘Evergreen Smile’ has been chosen under the Jury Honourable Mention section of the competition. The photograph shows an old woman from West Bengal, who blushes and hides her face, with a peacock feather, while being photographed.
Similarly, Chandan Khanna’s work—Ribbons of Loss shows the tribute of a 67-year-old woman, who tied a ribbon each for the ones who lost their lives during the pandemic. A reflection on the glass pane of the window of her residence in Anna Maria Island of Florida in Miami shows her onlooking at the reflection of numerous ribbons, that have turned the courtyard into a memorial of Covid warriors.
Another photographer from India—Rajendra Mohan Pandey has clicked a photograph ‘Cracking the Ice’ and shows the frozen waters of ‘Dal Jheel’ in Kashmir.
Speaking on this occasion, Russia’s Ambassador Denis Alipov said he would be short in his speech, as the intriguing photographs speak for themselves.
He said, the photographs also speak of the dedication and the frame from which he looks at the world. These photographs display diverse emotions of love, hate, fear, loss, and overcoming challenges and motivation—something that is much needed in these times.
He also paid tribute to Russia’s special photo journalist Andre Stenin, who sacrificed his life, while being on duty, and informed that the exhibition has been organized by Sputniknews.com since 2014.
It is to be noted that the competition is the sole platform, from where world-class photojournalists from across the world are chosen. Many photojournalists from across the world participate in the competition.
It is to be noted that the entries for the competition for the year 2023 has begun on December 22, 2022.
