BHOPAL/Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday inaugurated two advanced manufacturing units in Pithampur, built with an investment of around ₹850 crore, and said the projects would strengthen the state’s industrial base while creating new employment opportunities for young people.
The two units of Pratap Group — Corsis Industries and Walters Technologies — have been established at the Smart Industrial Park in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh’s largest industrial hub. Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat attended the inauguration.
Yadav said the projects, focused on optical fibre manufacturing and energy storage, would strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s capabilities in high-technology manufacturing and clean energy.
“Providing maximum employment opportunities to youth and strengthening the economy are among the biggest priorities today,” Yadav said, adding that the new facilities would provide young people with exposure to modern technologies as well as employment and training opportunities.
The Chief Minister said the state government was working to ensure that investments translated into jobs and economic growth. He said the government was extending support to industries that generate employment, including assistance of up to ₹5,000 per worker, besides focusing on electricity, water, roads and other industrial infrastructure.
Yadav said Pithampur had received new industrial projects for the second time in a month, reflecting the improving investment climate in the state. The expansion of industries, he added, would help Madhya Pradesh emerge as a stronger manufacturing and employment hub.
Shekhawat described the two projects as a symbol of India’s changing industrial landscape and the country’s drive towards self-reliance.
The battery storage plant, he said, would contribute to meeting the country’s growing clean-energy requirements, while the optical fibre facility would strengthen digital connectivity and communications infrastructure.
He said India’s manufacturing sector had undergone significant transformation over the past decade and was increasingly becoming an important part of global manufacturing and supply chains.
According to Shekhawat, various initiatives of the Pratap Group currently provide direct and indirect employment to around 30,000 people. The group’s skill development centres are training more than 2,000 young people, while efforts are underway to create employment opportunities for around 5,000 more youths in the coming period.
The Union minister said Madhya Pradesh had considerable potential for industrial growth because of its availability of power, water and raw materials, improving road and logistics infrastructure and investment-friendly policies. Connectivity through the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor and expressways would further strengthen the state’s position as a major industrial destination, he said.
Optical fibre plant to support digital infrastructure
Pratap Group chairman Devendra Singh Shekhawat said the optical fibre manufacturing facility established by Corsis Industries at Plot No. 98 covers around 8,067 square metres and has an annual production capacity of 5.5 million fibre kilometres.
The plant is expected to generate around 300 direct and indirect jobs. Its optical fibre products will be used in broadband connectivity, 5G networks, fibre-to-the-home (FTTH), data centres, smart cities, defence and other strategic communications infrastructure.
The project is expected to support the expansion of digital connectivity and contribute to the objectives of Digital India, Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Battery storage plant to support clean-energy transition
Walters Technologies’ plant has been established over approximately 20,505 square metres and has a production capacity of 3 GWh. It is expected to generate around 250 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The facility incorporates Industry 4.0-based automation and robotic assembly lines and is aimed at applications including renewable-energy integration and commercial and industrial energy storage.
The projects are expected to strengthen Pithampur’s role in high-technology manufacturing while supporting India’s transition towards cleaner energy and expanded digital infrastructure.
The inauguration was attended by local legislators, senior representatives of the Pratap Group and other dignitaries.
