RAIPUR/Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has expressed grief over the death of four workers from Kondagaon district in the tunnel accident in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district and directed officials to provide financial assistance to their families.
The Chief Minister has directed that ₹5 lakh each be provided to the families of the deceased workers, while the two workers injured in the accident will receive ₹50,000 each.
Four workers from Kondagaon district were killed after water entered an under-construction tunnel in Chamoli. The deceased belonged to Dhansuli village (two), Madnar (one) and Dahikonga (one). Two other workers from the district were injured in the incident.
The bodies of the deceased workers were brought to Kondagaon, where their last rites were performed in the presence of their family members.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, Sai said the state government stood with them during the difficult hour and would extend all possible assistance.
He also prayed for peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to bear the loss. The Chief Minister wished the two injured workers a speedy recovery.
