MP Madhya Kshetra DISCOM Electrifies 5,050 Tribal Households Under Dharti Aaba Campaign

BHOPAL / The Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company has electrified 5,050 houses of Scheduled Tribe families and public institutions across 14 districts of Madhya Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan.

The initiative aims to provide electricity to unelectrified households in tribal-dominated villages. Among the beneficiaries, 983 households were electrified in Vidisha, 960 in Guna, 650 in Raisen, 642 in Betul, 528 in Harda, 350 in Sehore, 332 in Narmadapuram, 156 in Rajgarh, 151 in Sheopur, 119 in Bhopal, 94 in Shivpuri, 38 in Morena, 37 in Ashoknagar and 10 in Gwalior.

Company officials said another 519 eligible beneficiaries will soon have their homes electrified under the scheme. The campaign is among the flagship initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is being implemented on a fast track, officials said.

The electrification drive is expected to improve access to basic amenities and create better opportunities for tribal families. Access to electricity is helping children study after dark while supporting household activities and livelihood opportunities. Improved access to drinking water, street lighting and other basic infrastructure is also contributing to better living conditions in tribal-dominated areas, the company said.
