KOTA: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday urged voters to elect BJP candidates in the upcoming urban local body elections, saying a “triple-engine government” would accelerate development in Kota and neighbouring districts.
Addressing a public meeting in the Kaithunipol area of Kota North, Sharma appealed to people to support BJP candidates in Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran. He said local bodies should work in coordination with the state and Centre for faster implementation of development projects.
Sharma claimed that 78 per cent of commitments listed in the BJP’s “Letter of Resolutions” had been fulfilled in more than two years. He said the government was focusing on law and order, water supply, infrastructure and employment.
The chief minister said 1.83 lakh appointment letters had been issued, examinations held for 1.22 lakh aspirants and recruitment initiated for another 70,000 posts. He also claimed that no examination paper had been leaked during his government’s tenure.
Taking a swipe at Congress, Sharma said, “If your maths is weak, come to me, I will arrange tuition for you.”
On power supply, he said Rajasthan had moved from being power-deficient to supplying electricity to other states, with 1,200 MW of additional generation added in two-and-a-half years.
Sharma said the state’s Vision 2047 would prioritise civic amenities, industrial growth, trade and employment. He later led a 2.5-km roadshow through Kota as part of the BJP’s election campaign.
