MP: EOW raids at Two Premises of PWD’s Engineer, Unearths Assets Worth Crores
BHOPAL / The Madhya Pradesh Economic Offence Wing (EOW) conducted raids simultaneously at two locations of the Public Works Department’s engineer in Gwalior of Madhya Pradesh in early Friday morning and unearthed movable and immovable property worth more than Rs15 crore.
The EOW sleuths conducted raids at the two houses of Ravindra Singh Kushwah, a sub-divisional officer posted in PWD’s division no -1 in Gwalior, said Amit Singh superintendent of police (SP) EOW, Gwalior. The searching team revealed that the engineer owns assets worth crores of rupees in Gwalior, Dabra and Bhopal.
During the search operation, the EOW team found Rs 3.5 lakh in cash, jewellery worth about Rs 9 lakh, documents of properties including that of 6.5 bigha agriculture land, two houses and a shop in Dabra, a plot in PHE colony, two flats and two plots in Gwalior, a flat at Patel Nagar in Bhopal, and a Hyundai Accent car, two bikes from the house of Kushwah.
The EOW raided simultaneously at the residence of SDO Kushwah in DB city, a posh township of the city, and another house located in Paras Vihar colony in which his family lived earlier.
“The raids were conducted following an anonymous complaint of disproportionate against SDO Kushwah. He has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and a case registered in connection with unproportionate assets,” the SP EOW Singh told The Sun Today. “We also got papers related to bank accounts and locker. The team will take action to open the locker tomorrow,” he added.
The search team also found the papers related to the sale and purchase of 50 bighas agricultural land which is located in Billowa town in Gwalior district, the SP also added.
According to EOW SP, the house where Kushwaha resides along with his family is worth more than Rs 2 crores. After buying this house, it had been dismantled completely by him and changed into a luxury bungalow by reconstructing it.
The experts’ team is calculating the worth of the assets and the final value of the unproportionate properties would be declared soon, an official of EOW informed.
