BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday transferred more than Rs 1,835 crore to the bank accounts of over 1.25 crore women under the Ladli Behna scheme, marking the 40th instalment of the flagship welfare programme.
The amount was transferred in a single click at a programme in Agar-Malwa, where more than 1.13 lakh women from the district were among the beneficiaries.
Yadav said the scheme was helping women move beyond being welfare recipients towards economic self-reliance. More than four lakh women in the state have become entrepreneurs with financial and technical assistance from the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises department, he said.
“Ladli Behnas are no longer only beneficiaries; they are becoming earners,” Yadav said, adding that the scheme had strengthened women’s confidence, self-respect and economic independence.
He said the government was committed to women’s dignity, security, livelihood and self-employment, and would fulfil its commitments towards them.
The chief minister also announced that the government would bear the registration cost for more than 50 lakh leaseholders whose land documents have not yet been registered. Under the Swamitva Adhikar Abhilekh Nispadan Yojana-2026, registered documents would be provided to beneficiaries free of cost from September 17, he said.
Yadav announced development projects worth more than Rs 254 crore for Agar-Malwa district. These include the foundation stones for 33 projects worth Rs 226 crore and the inauguration of 17 works costing nearly Rs 28 crore. Three road projects worth about Rs 118 crore and a government law college costing more than Rs 19 crore are among the works.
He also announced plans for a major gaushala in Agar and said the government would work to ensure irrigation water reaches every agricultural field in the district.
The Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Seva will be launched on September 25, Yadav said. The service will connect villages, panchayats, towns, blocks, tehsils and cities, with the state targeting more than 15,000 buses by 2030.
The chief minister said the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan would begin on September 17 and continue until October 17. As part of the campaign, 58 lakh lamps will be lit simultaneously across the state at 7 pm on September 17 as a birthday tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
