MP: Chlorine Gas Leak in Sehore Village, Four Taken to Hospital

Residents Reported Eye Irritation & Breathing Difficulties Following Gas Leak at Water Filtration Plant

BHOPAL: A chlorine gas leak from a water filtration plant near Kahiri Dam in Lasudia Khas village of Sehore district affected several people on Tuesday night, officials said.

Residents in the vicinity reported eye irritation and breathing difficulties following the leak. Four people were taken to Sehore District Hospital for treatment and were later declared out of danger by doctors.

Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Choubey said teams comprising doctors, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel and police had reached the site. The local administration was maintaining heightened vigilance and taking precautionary measures to secure the surrounding area and prevent any untoward incident.

According to local sources, chlorine was being used at the plant for water purification when the leak reportedly originated from a storage tank.

Senior doctor at the district hospital, Dr Hariom Gupta, said none of those admitted had suffered serious injuries and all were in stable condition.
