BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will on September 3 inaugurate the rollout of the first power transformer from CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited’s new manufacturing facility in Sehore, marking the start of production at one of India’s largest single-location power transformer plants.
Spread across nearly 50 acres, the facility is designed to manufacture high-capacity power transformers ranging from 220 kV to 1,200 kV. The plant will have the capacity to produce around 35 power transformers every month, strengthening India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities for high-voltage transmission equipment.
Yadav had performed the foundation stone ceremony for the project in August 2025. Production has commenced within about 13 to 14 months, reflecting the state’s efforts to expedite the implementation of major industrial investments.
The transformers manufactured at Sehore will cater to demand from across India and international markets. They will be used in several critical sectors, including power transmission, data centres, railways, renewable energy, oil and gas and other transmission infrastructure projects.
The project is also expected to boost employment and related economic activity in the region. According to the state government, the CG Power facility will create more than 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities in Sehore.
The project is being viewed as an important step in Madhya Pradesh’s efforts to convert investment proposals into operational industrial units and generate employment at the local level.
CG Power and Industrial Solutions has been operating in the electrical engineering sector for nearly nine decades. The company manufactures transformers, switchgear, induction motors, drives, traction motors and other electrical equipment.
The Sehore plant will significantly expand the company’s power transformer manufacturing capacity. Besides helping meet India’s growing electricity requirements, the facility is expected to support exports and enhance Sehore and Madhya Pradesh’s profile as an emerging industrial and manufacturing hub.
