Collector Barwani celebrates Diwali with Anganwadi children and Kushth Ashram people
BHOPAL / On the eve of Diwali, Barwani collector Shivraj Singh along with his family members celebrated the festival of lights with over 500, children of Anganwadi and the people of Kushtha Ashram in a mega event on Sunday.
The event was organised at Ashagram hill which has been developed by the collector as a tourist destination, spiritual spot and a city forest with a public contribution at the heart of the city.
More than 500 needy including the people of Kushth Ashram and the children of the Anganwadi were distributed sweets, firecrackers, clothes (Kurta-Paizamas, Sherwanis, Sarees, school uniforms, lowers, shirts and etc.) and fruits by the collector Singh, his wife Pushpa Singh and his other family members. Interestingly, before started the celebration, new apparel has been enrobed the children and the patients of leprosy and their family members of all age groups.
The spot, Ashagram where the Anganwadi and the Kushtha Ashram are located, has been cleaned, white-washed and decorated with lights. Apart from this, Earthern lamps were lightened and Rangolis were also drawn.
“It is the best magnificent celebration of Diwali in my life so far. Celebrating festivities with the needy gives us real happiness. Let’s celebrate the festival with those people who need ours”, collector Singh told The Sun Today.
On the occasion, the collector also laid the foundations of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna(PMAY). On the initiative of the collector, 66 houses have been sanctioned under the PMAY to the family members of leprosy patients who have been residing in the Kushth Ashram
The collector has adopted the Anganwadi too under Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s social initiative of the ‘Adopt an Anganwadi’ campaign.
Collector Singh has successively been celebrating Diwali and Holi festivals every year with needy children since 2016.
On this occasion, the collector addressed the gathering, and the officials and employees of the district administration and various departments were present.
