RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday issued dedicated helpline numbers to assist residents of the state who are stranded in Nepal following devastating flash floods and landslides, officials saidRAI[
People from Chhattisgarh stuck in Nepal, as well as their family members in the state, can contact the Disaster Management Helpline at 1070 or +91-771-2223471 for information and assistance, officials said.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the state government was standing by its citizens during the crisis and was taking steps to facilitate the safe return of those stranded in Nepal.
The helpline was launched on the chief minister’s directions to coordinate assistance for affected Chhattisgarh residents and their families.
The move comes amid a major flood disaster in Nepal, where nearly 100 people have been killed and more than 750 people, including 133 Indian nationals, are reported missing.
A massive flash flood originating in Tibet swept through parts of central Nepal on Wednesday, inundating towns and villages, destroying key bridges and disrupting around a dozen hydropower projects.
The Bhote Koshi River surged following the flooding, severely affecting Rasuwa and Dhading districts along Nepal’s border with Tibet.
The Chhattisgarh government said the helpline would serve as a point of contact for families seeking information about their relatives stranded in the affected areas and for those requiring assistance in returning to the state.
