MP Transport Department Organises Free Eye Check-Up Camps for Drivers as a Part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’
BHOPAL / The Transport Department of Madhya Pradesh has held free eye check-up camps across the state for drivers of commercial vehicles as a part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.
The Department will be organizing such kinds of events throughout the state till 15 September under the embodiment to mark 75 years of Independence. A calendar of various kinds of programs is being released by the department.
Free eye check-up camps were organized in 44 districts of the state on 9 January at the district headquarters by the related district transport officers. Local public representatives and dignitaries were invited to attend the celebration to observe the 75 years of Independence. They exuberantly participated in the camps.
Additional Transport Commissioner Enforcement(ATCE) Arvind Saxena told The Sun Today, “the visibility of a driver is must be good to curb road mishaps. Keeping this, free eye check-up camps were organized at the bus stands of the district headquarters on 9 January as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebration.”
“A total of 4914 drivers of commercial vehicles have got their eyes checked in the 44 camps. Around 20 percent of drivers among them were prescribed medicines and need of lenses by the doctors,’ Saxena said. The ATCE Saxena informed that a free of cost medicines were also provided to the needy drivers in the camps.
‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav(AKAM)’ is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements.
AKAM is an embodiment of all that is progressive about India’s socio-cultural, political, and economic identity. The official journey of the AKAM commences on12 March 2021 which starts a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of Independence and will end post a year on 15 August 2023.
The state government has instructed all departments to organize various events to mark the AKAM initiative.
The transport department will hold an activity every month in all 52 districts of the state under the AKAM till 15 September, the calendar is being prepared and will release soon, the ATCE said. The camps will be organized soon in the remaining 8 districts which were left on 9 January.
