MP: National Health Mission Executive Engineer Caught Red-Handed Taking Rs 3 Lakh Bribe
BHOPAL / A National Health Mission (NHM) Executive Engineer was caught red-handed by Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta Special Police Establishment (MPLSPE) on Tuesday in Bhopal while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from a contractor, who had carried out civil and electrical works in a government-run hospital.
“The EE, Rishabh Kumar Jain (58) was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount, Rs 3 Lakh against passing a final bill of construction work from an NHM contractor at Habibganj railway station area of the city early in the morning by our team” the Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Jabalpur MPLSPE unit, Anil Vishwakarma told The Sun Today.
Vishwakarma said that a Jabalpur-based contractor had lodged a complaint alleging that EE Jain was asking for Rs 3 lakh as a bribe from him to pass the final bill of Rs 44 Lakh of the civil and electrical work carried out by him in the district hospital Seoni in November last year under the NHM.
The MPLSPE’s Jabalpur team laid a trap and caught Jain while accepting Rs 2 Lakh cash and a cheque of Rs 1 Lakh from the complainant, the SP also said.
After catching Jain red-handed, a search is conducting at the accused engineer’s home at 62-Chankyapuri in the Choona Bhatti area of the city, Vishwakarma added. He also added that the search team has unearthed about one more house of the EE, Jain in the city. About his assets, the team will make the announcement after the completion of the search operation. The team is finding Jain’s legal income after then it will be also disclosed about his disproportionate property, the Lokayukta SP further added.
Deputy SP Dilip Jharwade, Inspector Swapnil Das, Kamal Singh Ueke, Naresh Behara, Bhupendra Diwan, Dinesh Dubey, Amit Mandal and Jeet Singh are included in the team.
