MP Minister Bhupendra Singh Calls on Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Urges to Extend Duration of PMAY
BHOPAL / Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh requested Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri to extend the duration of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) till March 2024 during a visit to New Delhi on Thursday.
Union Minister Puri hailed Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for better implementation of the Center’s urban development schemes in the state.
Minister Singh told the Union Minister that a special interest is being taken by the beneficiaries in the BLC (Beneficiary-Led Construction) component under the Urban Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (UPMAY). Singh said that a total of 67 thousand 286 proposals of the beneficiaries under the UPMAY which were sent in February are under consideration before the Union ministry for approval. Besides, forty thousand beneficiaries have applied under the scheme in March month in the state, whose proposal is also being sent to the government of India for housing under the BLC component. State’s Housing Minister Singh requested Union Minister Puri for granting approval of the proposals. Singh said that Puri had directed the officers of the ministry to approve the pending proposals of Madhya Pradesh as early as.
The Minister, Singh urged to give guidance on the basis of the Ganga Action Plan or other experiences to keep all the rivers and water bodies of the state 100 per cent free from pollution. On this, Puri asked the officials of Urban Affairs to send a team to Madhya Pradesh to provide technical guidance in this regard.
Singh suggested the Union minister set up a forum (class learning platform) to share the experiences of urban development of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat among themselves. While agreeing to the suggestion, the Union Minister directed the concerned officers to take immediate action in this regard..
The Urban Development and Housing Minister also informed that with the continuous cooperation of the Central Government under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), the state has got the second position in the implementation of the scheme. At present, 6 lakh 28 thousand houses have been approved under the BLC component. So far 8 lakh 68 thousand houses have been approved including all the components.
