MP Government Fixes Target to Inoculate 35L People in Second Phase of ‘Mega Vaccination Campaign’
BHOPAL / After making a world record in vaccination in a day during the first phase, the Madhya Pradesh government will hold the second stage of the two-day mega inoculation campaign for Covid-19 on 25 and 26 August. A target to get 35 lakh people vaccinated has been fixed for the ‘Maha Teekakaran Abhiyan’.
The state has administered over four crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines so far and it has targeted completing the COVID-19 vaccination exercise by the year-end. In this drive, the government will focus to increase the coverage of the second dose of the vaccine.
The state has made a record in the vaccination programme in the country as well as in the world due to the perfect inoculation planning of the then Health Commissioner, Dr Sanjay Goel, a senior IAS officer when the Covid vaccine was introduced in the state. Dr Goel has drawn a blueprint for vaccination in December last year which has got mega-success to the state in the inoculation against the deadly virus.
The state made a record of 16.95 lakh plus vaccination in a single day during the first phase of the mega vaccination campaign against the deadly virus disease on June 21. A similar huge vaccination drive, the second phase of the campaign will start on Wednesday in the state.
The World Book of Records has included the state’s achievement of administering the vaccine doses to more than 16.95 lakh people in a day during the first phase of the mega vaccination of Covid-19.
“The vaccination drive is being run across the country and the government is committed to administering both doses to a cent per cent of people in Madhya Pradesh. The government aims to vaccinate a total of 35 Lakh of citizens in two days during the second phase,” Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reporters.
CM on Monday urged the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya during a visit to New Delhi on Monday to provide 11 Lakh vaccine doses before 25 August to make the mega drive successful.
At present, the targeted population, 18-year plus age group to which vaccine is to be administered is 5.49 crore while a total of 4 crore people have been inoculated so far in the state and 65 lakh beneficiaries have got the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
