Altogether, only 15 to 20 collectors who have performed well in the ADP scheme have been called from across the country.
A group of officials from across the country will deliberate on health and nutrition (anaemia) – one of the major performance factors fixed by the NITI Ayog to the Aspirational Districts of the country. Barwani has been identified among them.
The group will deliberate on possible focus areas and big outcomes that a district can target for instance reduction in IMR, MMR etc.
The deliberation may involve the identification of such outcomes and how to make an action plan for a district using the principle of convergence and implement the same.

112 districts including MP’ eight, have been selected under the ADP scheme and 49 key performance indicators including five major sectors (health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion and skill development and basic infrastructure) have been fixed.
The NITI Aayog has allocated around Rs 20 crore (maximum in the state) to the district as an award so far for excellent performance.
“We have taken several initiatives introducing some holistic programmes such as ‘Mission Ummeed’, ‘Pahuch Abhiyan’, ‘Mamata Brigade’, ‘Bal Shakti’ and ‘Khilona Banks’ etc. to gear up the works on ADP’s major performance indicators. A radical decline has been witnessed in the institutional deliveries, MMR(maternal mortality rate), IMR(infant mortality rate) and malnutrition, as per NFHS-5 report,” Singh told The Sun Today.
According to the recent release report of the National Family Health Survey-5(NFHS), the percentage of institutional delivery has reached more than 97 per cent from 50.7.
Barwani has more than 70 per cent tribal population. Before launching the innovations, malnutrition, lack of institutional deliveries and anaemia etc were the major challenges in the district.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also appreciated many times the innovative ideas of the collector, Singh. The district has recently achieved a prestigious Skotch Award-2022 for increasing institutional deliveries and reducing IMR and MMR.
