Arth Jain, Who Secured AIR 16 in UPSC Civil Services, Says Aspirants Should Focus on Time Management

BHOPAL / Arth Jain who bagged 16th All India Rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) 2020 examination and second place in Madhya Pradesh, the results of which were declared on Friday evening, says that he has focused on time management and made attempted number of tests that helped him to achieve success on a first attempt.

Talking to The Sun Today, Arth says that his father is the role model for him, and he is inspired by him to become a civil servant like him, he chose the Mathematics subject as an optional paper in the main exams.

Arth is the son of a senior IPS officer, 1989 batch, Mukesh Jain who is currently posted in Gwalior as the Transport Commissioner of Madhya Pradesh. At present, Arth resides in Gwalior along with his family members. His Mother, Ritu Jain has also graduated in Electronics and Tele-communication Engineering with a gold medal and done a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Indian School of Business.

Jain completed his Bachelor of Technical degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in 2019.

On asking about the strategy which has been adopted by him during the preparation, Jain told, “during the preparation for the UPSC examinations, I focused on time management and divided it equally for general studies and the optional papers Maths for mains. Apart from this, regular practice of attempting mock tests played a key role in my success.”

“My father was my main source of inspiration to choose civil services. After consulting with him, I decided to start preparation in 2017 while I was in the 3rd year in the IIT Delhi”, Arth told The Sun Today on asking about his inspiration.

Arth tells about his family support during the preparation, “my parents were my main support system throughout this journey. They supported me during the highs and lows, in fact during the interview preparation, my father, who is himself a civil servant, helped me to understand the ground-level problems and their practical solutions, based on his experience.”

Giving a message to new aspirants, he said that UPSC was an examination that requires consistent and sustainable preparation. “I would say, we should be disciplined and had a proper timetable for study. We should fix our targets and follow them to the maximum extent possible”, he added.

“Apart from these, aspirants should prepare a concise booklist, revise it again and again and attempt tests frequently to check the preparation level’,   Arth further added.

His brother is also preparing for the civil services and he has also completed B Tech from IIT Delhi.
