BHOPAL/ A light-hearted yet politically significant moment has emerged from the ongoing Madhya Pradesh BJP state executive committee meeting in Orchha, where former minister Imarti Devi is seen expressing her wish that Minister Krishna Gour be made the Chief Minister.
In a video circulating on social media, Imarti Devi is seen interacting with Minister of State and Govindpura (Bhopal) MLA Krishna Gour. Hugging her, the former minister is heard saying, “Minister, I am meeting you after such a long time. I say, may Ram Raja Sarkar make you the Chief Minister.”
Upon hearing the remark, Krishna Gour pauses briefly, after which the minister walks away smiling. The exchange is said to have taken place on the sidelines of the two-day BJP state executive meeting being held in the temple town of Orchha.

Interestingly, the reported interaction between the two BJP women leaders has come at a time when speculation is rife on social media that Krishna Gour was called to Delhi amid speculation over a leadership change in the state. The claims have further fuelled political discussions within party circles. Krishna Gour, who also hails from the Yadav community, currently serves as a Minister of State in the Mohan Yadav government. She is the daughter-in-law of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Babulal Gaur.
Imarti Devi had left the Congress along with Jyotiraditya Scindia and joined the BJP, and is considered one of the prominent leaders of the Scindia camp. In the 2023 Assembly elections, she faced defeat from the Dabra seat (reserved for SC) in Gwalior district. After losing the election, she has not been given any responsibility in any corporation or board so far. It is worth noting that in Madhya Pradesh BJP politics, discussions about different leaders for the Chief Minister’s post keep surfacing from time to time. A section of supporters advocating for Jyotiraditya Scindia as Chief Minister has also emerged periodically. Imarti, who served as a minister in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government when 22 MLAs supporting Scindia switched from the Congress to the BJP, was part of the political developments that led to the fall of the Kamal Nath-led Congress government in March 2020. Imarti has also been seen on social media several times, indicating that she has not met Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
The BJP state executive committee meeting, which began on Sunday, is focusing on the development roadmap for Madhya Pradesh and Bundelkhand, organisational strengthening at the booth level, and preparations for the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
