Vidisha Ranks Third in Madhya Pradesh for Wheat Procurement; Over 5 Lakh Metric Tonnes Purchased So Far
BHOPAL/Wheat procurement at the minimum support price (MSP) is progressing at a rapid pace in Vidisha district, which currently ranks third in Madhya Pradesh in terms of procurement volume. So far, 5,877 metric tonnes of wheat have been procured in the district. District Supply Officer and Procurement Nodal Officer, Anil Tantuvay, informed that Sehore and Ujjain are leading the state rankings, but Vidisha is poised to move up to the second position shortly.
Under the guidance of the Collector. Anshul Gupta, the procurement process is being carried out smoothly. Special efforts are being made to ensure that farmers who have booked slots receive all necessary facilities at the procurement centres. On the Collector’s initiative, details of government and non-government personnel deployed at each centre are prominently displayed, and staff members are required to wear identification cards. This step ensures that visiting farmers can easily identify staff and report any inconvenience caused at the centres.
According to Mr. Tantuvay, 190 procurement centres have been set up in the district, with procurement currently underway at 184 centres. A total of 80,189 farmers have registered for wheat procurement, of which 59,527 have booked slots so far. On Saturday alone, 10,593 metric tonnes of wheat were procured. Overall, wheat from 48,076 farmers has been purchased at MSP, totalling over 5 lakh metric tonnes.
Strict monitoring is also being carried out to ensure timely payment to farmers. As of now, Rs 922.92 crore out of the payable Rs 1,289.52 crore has already been transferred directly into farmers’ bank accounts. EPOs (Electronic Payment Orders) have been generated for the remaining amount to expedite the payment process.
