LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said the state government will provide one lakh government appointment letters to youths over the next six months, asserting that recruitment under his government has been transparent and merit-based.
Addressing an appointment letter distribution programme, Adityanath said more than 9.3 lakh youths had secured government jobs since 2017 through a process based on merit and reservation rules, without discrimination.
Appointment letters were handed over to 3,446 technical assistants and 126 market secretaries at the event, attended by Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi and Minister of State for Agriculture Baldev Singh Aulakh.
“During this period, our government has succeeded in providing government jobs to more than 9,30,000 youths of Uttar Pradesh, and no one can raise a question over even a single appointment,” he said.
Targeting the previous government without naming former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Yadav, Adityanath alleged that recruitment before 2017 was plagued by corruption, delays and irregularities.
He alleged that youths would wait for recruitment results while cases were eventually stayed by courts, wasting their time and, in some cases, making them overage for other examinations.
The chief minister said his government had adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and the “copying mafia” and had seized properties and proceeds linked to mafias.
Adityanath directed recruitment boards and commissions to reduce timelines, saying recruitment should be completed within six months of receiving requisitions. Advertisements should be issued within a month, followed by examinations and results within the stipulated period.
“We do not want a situation where a young person has to be provoked because he has appeared for an examination but the result has not come,” he said.
He also cited the Uttar Pradesh Board examinations as an example of administrative efficiency, saying examinations involving around 56 lakh students are now completed in 14 days, with results declared within the following 14 days.
The CM claimed that the 9.3 lakh government appointments had contributed to Uttar Pradesh’s demographic dividend and helped triple the state’s economy and per capita income.
He said the state, once described as a “BIMARU state”, had now entered the country’s top three economies by linking its young population with development.
